Norwell Athletic Club offers a variety of yoga and pilates classes for beginners and beyond

We focus on what matters

Pure Pilates with Pam Garcia is a classical Pilates studio located inside Norwell Athletic Club. Each class focuses on proper posture, breathing, and muscle engagement so that you get the maximum benefit from your time on the mat or at the barre. Strength, flexibility and coordination are key components in an effective Pilates Program. Posture, balance, core strength and lung capacity are all greatly increased. Bone density and joint health improve, and many experience body awareness for the first time. Pilates teaches balance and control to the body and can spill over into other areas of ones life.

Our Instructors Are Exceptional

Our Pilates classes are offered by Pure Pilates instructors.

Founded by Pamela Garcia, Pure Pilates teaches classical Pilates which is a movement system designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body. We offer many different Pilates classes available to members and non-members, including reformer, barre, chair and mat classes.

What is Classical Pilates?

Classical Pilates is the original work designed by Joseph and Clara Pilates with little or no deviation. This traditional order recruits specific muscle firing patterns over and over challenging the body’s movement by changing the center of gravity and the surface stability.

This systematic approach allows significant changes to happen to the body and creates strength quickly. “Contemporary” methods have no order and often change the goal or purpose of the exercises and in turn compromise the integrity of the original work. There are many variations of Pilates in the market today. All are Pilates based, but only the classical work is truly Pilates and has stood the test of time.

Rebecca Scarlott is a comprehensively certified trainer through Peak Pilates and is trained to teach all levels on all studio equipment such as Reformer, Chair, Barrel, Spine Corrector, and Cadillac.

A former dancer and gymnast, Rebecca began her Pilates training a decade ago after back surgery left her bedridden for months. Now, with no restrictions or pain, she enjoys sharing Joseph Pilates’ classical method with both men and women who are looking to build strength, manage pain, improve posture, increase bone mass, and bolster their immune system.
